How Much Can I Sell My PlayStation For?

Are you planning to upgrade to the latest PlayStation model, or simply clearing out your closet? Knowing the fair market value of your used console is the first step to getting the best deal. Our PlayStation Price Estimator helps you determine the current selling price for PS5, PS4, and PS3 consoles based on real-time market trends for early 2026.

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Select Your Generation: Choose whether you are selling a PlayStation 5, 4, or 3.

  2. Choose Your Model: Be specific! A PS5 “Digital Edition” has a different value than the “Disc Edition,” and a PS3 “Backwards Compatible” model is worth significantly more than a standard Slim.

  3. Rate the Condition:

    • New/Sealed: Box is unopened.

    • Like New: Box opened, but console is pristine with all original packaging.

    • Good: Normal signs of use, fully functional, includes controller and cables.

    • Fair: Visible scratches or dents, but plays games perfectly.

    • Broken/Parts: Does not turn on or read discs.

Market Factors Influencing 2026 Resale Prices

1. The “PS5 Pro” Effect

With the PlayStation 5 Pro now established in the market, the price of the original PS5 (Fat) and the standard PS5 Slim has stabilized. While the Pro commands a premium, the demand for the standard Disc and Digital editions remains high for budget-conscious gamers, keeping resale values healthy (typically 300-400)

2. The Retro Renaissance (PS3)

The PlayStation 3 has entered “retro collector” territory.

  • The “Holy Grail” Model: The original 60GB/20GB “Fat” PS3s (Model CECHA/CECHB) are highly sought after because they are backwards compatible with PS2 games. If you have a working one of these, it can often sell for $250+, sometimes rivaling the price of a used PS4 Pro.

  • Standard Models: Later PS3 Slim and Super Slim models are generally valued between $60 and $100, serving as great entry-level media centers or emulators.

3. Storage Capacity Matters (PS4)

For the PlayStation 4 generation, storage is a key price differentiator. A 1TB PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro will almost always fetch 20-30 more than its 500GB counterpart. As game file sizes grow, buyers are willing to pay extra for that ready-to-go storage space.

Where Should You Sell?

  • eBay / Mercari: You will generally get the highest price (closest to our “upper” estimate), but you must account for shipping costs and seller fees (~13-15%).

  • Facebook Marketplace / Craigslist: Great for cash-in-hand sales. Prices tend to be slightly lower to encourage a quick local pickup.

  • Trade-In (GameStop / Best Buy): The quickest method, but expect to receive 30-50% less than the market value estimates shown above. Convenience costs money!
